Vineleaf STORY
Vineleaf tavern was constructed in 1973 by two brothers, Mr Athos and Makis Liassides, in Pissouri Village. The cookers were the wives of the two men so the food was homemade and traditional, therefore that was a main factor of attracting the people. At the beginning the environment was more a family matter as the two brothers come from a very big family in Pissouri. Then, friends were visiting the tavern so that it became more popular not only for the friendly environment but also for the tasty and fresh menu. With the passing of the years, the small tavern had been so famous to the tourists and the visitors of the village and thus they had to expand the place. In addition, more staff was needed as the tavern became famous in all over the country by the world of mouth of the customers. The success of the tavern continues when Nikos Themistokleous recruited. Through his hard work he emerged as the best chef in Cyprus. He participated in a lot of competitions, in most of them rewarding the first place for his delicious Cypriot dishes and this has started from the small family tavern. Nowadays, the tavern is so busy that a reservation is needed most of the times. Especially every Saturday and Friday, live traditional Cypriot music and dancing accompany the meze with the traditional musical instruments. In 2013 they make the big step opening in Newcastle upon Tyne, a step to expand the company abroad. In 20th of March 2013 VineLeaf open their doors for people in England.
